Green housing launched in Yamuna e-way zone
GREATER NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Monday launched an environment-friendly affordable housing project in Sector 22A for middle- and lower-income groups.
Officials said that the 1,900 green homes under the scheme would be ready for possession by 2018. “The multistorey flats will be available to the public through draw of lots. Forms will be available till February 26, 2015,” said a YEIDA official. This is the second green housing scheme of the Authority, after it allotted nearly 7,000 flats in Sector 22D.
The multistorey apartments, which will have stilt parking facilities, will be available from Rs 15.49 lakh per unit for 1BHK to Rs 27.96 lakh for 2BHK units. The complexes will be gated with community centre, playgrounds, commercial spaces and nursery schools.
“In this scheme, we have 1,400 1BHK flats, which will be constructed over 525 square feet. The other 400 units will be built across 880 square feet. The flats have been designed in a way to cater to all sections of society,” the official said.
Designed to catch maximum sunlight, 25% of the total site area has been reserved for landscaped green spaces. According to officials, YEIDA’s buildings have been certified as ‘Green Buildings’ by LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), 1a green building certification program. “These will be environment-friendly affordable homes and will promote health, conserve natural resources, provide easy access to services and save residents hundreds of rupees a year in energy costs,” the official said.
Officials said that the concept of green housing was adopted as buildings and associated development work has an enormous impact on the environment.
Additional features would include use of quality single-glazing unit glass with better thermal properties and provision for organic waste composter for converting food waste into manure
