Greater Noida Metro route-Update

NOIDA: The Noida Metro Rail Company held a review meeting of the sanctioned route between Noida and Greater Noida on Friday. NMRC officials said the work on the planned route is expected to start once the tenders for the construction of the track are finalized. Having received the technical bids for the 28-km track earlier this month, financial bids will be finalized within 15 days, officials added.

Thirty companies have put in their bids for the project. “The construction has been divided into three parts. We have received 10 bids each for the three parts,” said an NMRC official. “These bids are being studied and we will open the financial bids in a fortnight,” he added.

Work on the link is estimated to cost Rs 5526 crore and is expected to be completed by June 2017. The procedure for eliminating all preliminary obstructions in the route’s path including road construction and shifting of facilities has already been completed by the NMRC.

Officials further said the Detailed Project Report for two new proposed extension routes between Noida and Greater Noida are also likely to be finalized within a month. It Earlier the DPR was to have been finalized in March this year. However, NMRC is now working on a comprehensive mobility plan, which has to be incorporated before finalizing the DPRs of the two new Metro tracks. “This will take about a month and the DPRs should be in place by May,” the official said.

The two routes measuring about 26-kms are likely to come at a cost of about Rs 5,500 crores and will connect NCR better.

The plan is to extend the Blue Line from Noida City Centre into a loop, covering various parts of Noida and Greater Noida. The loop line will also be linked with Line 8 (Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden) of Phase-III by a 16.5-km stretch connecting Sector-143 and the proposed station near Kalindi Bird Sanctuary on the banks of the Yamuna, officials said
