GREATER NOIDA: A mega convention facility, conceptualized on the lines of Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan, is going to come up in Knowledge Park II in Greater Noida soon. The construction is going to begin in May.
The centre, to cost Rs 1,500 crore, will sprawl across 31.25 acres and be the first fully integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment facility in the district.
HK Verma, Greater Noida Authority additional CEO, said so far there was no such facility in the district which can host national and international conferences and other events. The convention centre will house an auditorium, amphitheatres, seminar halls as well as a big library with around 50,000 books. A food plaza offering national and international cuisines will also be a part of the centre. “There will be about 200 outlets serving varied cuisines from across the globe,” Verma said. An art gallery, fitness centre and parking space for 7,000 vehicles will also come up on the premises. The entire facility will be connected with walkways and subways for easy movement.
To be constructed on a public-private partnership model, the model and design of the project has already been readied by a consultant. “The working drawings are ready and the construction is likely to start in May,” Verma said.
The area selected for the centre is Knowledge Park, as it hosts about 87 educational institutes but there is no facility to hold conventions, seminars and other programmes. “While the land will belong to the Authority, the selected company will build and maintain the facility at their cost,” he added.
