Metro to Greater Noida every 8 minutes

NOIDA: Commuters on proposed Noida-Greater Noida Metro link will be able to board a train every eight minutes said Noida Metro Rail Coporation (NMRC) officials, following a meeting with DMRC officials in Delhi on Wednesday. A decision to shift power lines obstructing the route was also taken at the meeting.

Work on the proposed 28-km stretch is to start by March. A senior NMRC official said DMRC, which is developing the line, has decided to maintain an eight-minute frequency of Metro trains on the new Noida to Greater Noida Metro route.

NMRC has advised DMRC to set up a provision of an integrated cashless Metro card, which would be valid for travel in Delhi, Gurgaon Rapid Metro and Noida Metro, including Metro feeder bus rides in NCR cities. “If it works out, daily commuters will not have to carry several cards. Since Delhi-NCR is considered a single zone, there would be a common facility for all,” the official said, adding that NMRC and DMRC have finalized how electricity lines will be shifted to make way for the link.

In the meeting, it was decided that small power lines will be relocated by Noida and Greater Noida authorities in their respective areas. Heavier lines of 132 and 220 KV will be shifted by DMRC, to avoid unwanted delay.
