NOIDA: The newly formed Noida Metro Rail Company on Wednesday finalized the route alignment of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro link. In a meeting with officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, all roadblocks in the link were removed to put it on fast track.
Officials said the route has been shortened by about 1.5 km, reducing the project cost by Rs 150 crore as well. Work on the link, being monitored daily by Rama Raman, chairperson and CEO of GB Nagar’s three administrations, is expected to start by March 2015 and completed by June 2017.
NMRC’s executive director G P Singh said the route, now 28 km long, will have Sector 71 as its originating station instead of Noida City Centre in Sector 32, while the last station in Greater Noida will be Bodaki. Consequently, Noida City Centre will no longer be the interchange station for Delhi Metro commuters on the Blue line.
“Instead of a station at Sector 51, we will have a station between sectors 143 and 149, but the number of stations will remain 22. Names of the stations will be finalized next week,” Singh said. He added that all preliminary requirements to put the route on track will be completed by January 15, 2015. NMRC will release Rs 115 crore to DMRC by January-end. “DMRC has already initiated three tenders of Rs 600 crore each on December 02, 2014 to build the route. Tenders for electricals, and casting yards at sectors 148, 151 and the Greater Noida depot, have also been floated. They’ll be finalized by February 15, 2015,” Singh said.
The NMRC has also decided to build three state-of-the-art multi-level parking lots-cum-shopping complexes at sectors 71 and 145 in Noida, and Alpha-1 in Greater Noida. Tenders for these will be initiated by next week. “The three projects will be able to house over 10,000 vehicles, besides providing commuters with a retail destination comparable to the best in the world,” Singh said. “We have already ear-marked land for this,” he said. “A traffic integration park to reduce traffic congestion and chaos is also planned at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida,” Singh explained.
It was also decided that two 2-lane access roads to the Metro link between Sectors 78 and 137 will be built by April. “There was a 7-km patch belonging to the irrigation department which blocked access. The department will construct the access road with Noida Authority fundingThe access roads will be leased to the irrigation department for three years,” Singh said. The first will be ready by March 15, 2015, and the second by April 30, 2015
