NOIDA: The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway is all set to become Wi-Fi enabled by March 15. Officials said that the free facility will be limited to two half-an-hour slots for each user. The Wi-Fi range will extend till the expressway service lanes.<\/p>\n
The facility is expected to be launched by UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav next month, along with the intelligent traffic management system (ITMS).<\/p>\n
According to the officials, internet access will be provided on the long stretch, starting from the expressway entry points at Mahamaya flyover, Amity Crossing via Noida-Greater Noida expressway and Pari Chowk (Greater Noida).<\/p>\n
“The facility, which will allow people to browse the internet and download data while commuting will be in place by March 15,” GP Singh, financial controller of Noida Authority, told TOI.<\/p>\n
“We will allow two slots of half-an-hour each for every user. Users will be able to use their cell phone numbers as passwords for gaining access to the facility,” Singh said, adding they were in talks with several companies to finalize the service provider for the facility.<\/p>\n
“Users will be able to surf the net or check emails while travelling. However, this facility will be within a certain range. Routers for speedy rollout of Wi-Fi are currently being put into place along the expressway,” he said.<\/p>\n
This will be a pilot project. In the next phase, the facility will be extended to more locations across the city.<\/p>\n
“The idea is that people, even foreign tourists, who use the expressway to travel to Agra via the Yamuna expressway should stay connected. Besides, Wi-Fi spots will lower the traffic burden on telecom networks,” Singh said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
